About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and pro-active Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our Adult Eating Disorder service. This is a pivotal leadership role within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team supporting individuals aged 18 plus, experiencing either a first or longer term eating disorder presentation.

You will provide and supervise expert psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention, while also leading service development, supervision, and clinical governance. Your work will directly influence the quality and safety of care delivered during critical moments in our service users lives.

The service operates 5 days a week, 9am-5pm. There is an expectation that this role would operate within core working hours.

Main duties of the job

Deliver high-level psychological assessments and interventions for service users.

Provide clinical leadership and supervision to psychologists and the wider MDT.

Work systemically within and across services to support and guide the networks around service users needs.

Contribute to strategic planning and service development across the Eating Disorder pathway.

Lead on quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to clinical governance standards.

Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals to deliver integrated care

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, including eligibility for chartered status with the BPS Further post qualification, postgraduate training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Experience Essential

Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity.

Skills Essential

Use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. Assessment, evaluation and management of risk associated with mental ill health and related psychopathology

Knowledge Essential

Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities etc.) Practitioner level knowledge of at least two models of psychological therapy Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS

other Essential

Capacity to exercise careful clinical judgement whilst having the ability to work with and to hold the stress of others in the work setting Ability to travel independently
