Job summary

Ward A5 - the dedicated Neck of Femur (NOF) Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - is seeking an experienced or newly qualified Registered Nurse to join our friendly and dynamic team. Ward A5 is a busy orthopaedic ward delivering high-quality care to both elective and trauma patients, with a strong focus on patient experience, safety, and rehabilitation.

We are looking for proactive, compassionate, and forward-thinking nurses who place patient care at the heart of everything they do. You will bring strong communication skills, a positive approach to teamwork, and the ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating all aspects of high-quality patient care in a compassionate, sensitive and person-centred manner. They will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care delivery, and actively contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and the continuous development of the service.

The role includes acting as a mentor and preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for supporting pre-registration nursing students and contributing to their learning and development. The post holder will also take delegated responsibility for coordinating the clinical team on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring the maintenance of high nursing standards, effective resource management, and a positive, safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications Essential

First Level Registration - Registered Nurse Degree or Diploma

Degree Level 6 study Teaching Qaulification

Experience Essential

Awareness of clinical Audit Experience of working alone and as part of a team Ability to supervise and support others Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability
