Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our Renal team as a Band 6Sister/Charge Nurse at Pontefract satellite haemodialysis unit (based at Pontefract General Infirmary) - providing out-patient dialysis to 72 patients, 6 days/week.
Main duties of the job The jobholder will play an essential role assisting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with the continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the ward / department. They will contribute to the provision of professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing team. The jobholder is responsible for helping to develop and maintain a ward or departments philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate safe and quality care delivery. By assisting with managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward, the jobholder will support the cost-effective use of resources.

Job Summary Pontefract is an Adult Haemodialysis Unit, providing maintenance haemodialysis for patients with chronic renal failure. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, forward- thinking nurse who is committed to providing high quality care. The post offers the opportunity to develop management skills as well as developing existing or new specialist nursing skills. We offer an individualized in-service induction package supported by our Renal Clinical Educators.
Why you should join our Team Abdominal Medicine and Surgery (AMS) is the largest and most complex CSU at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). We provide acute and elective inpatient services, diagnostic services, see large numbers of outpatients and deliver life-long care. We have 14 inpatient ward areas located in Lincoln Wing and Bexley Wing at St James’s Hospital, endoscopy units across three sites and 7 satellite dialysis units across West Yorkshire. What you will bring to the role The jobholder will be actively involved in providing direct and indirect compassionate care for patients in support of the multidisciplinary team. The jobholder will undertake a range of patient care duties whilst also supporting the day-to-day operational running and management of the unit.
The jobholder will assist in the overall implementation and evaluation of care as part of the multi professional team. The jobholder is expected to plan, implement, deliver and maintain high standards of patient care. The jobholder will be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) and acting on own initiative to achieve the planned outcome.
The jobholder will contribute to the maintenance of an environment for effective care.
The jobholder will be expected to lead and support the team of healthcare professionals working at Pontefract Satellite Unit, as well as deputise for the Senior Sister.
The jobholder will be expected to practice in accordance within Trust policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined competency boundaries.
