About this role

Longford, is currently seeking Bus Mechanics for immediate start at their facility in Kenagh, Co. Longford. Qualifications: 3 years’ of previous experience as a Bus Mechanic is required. Mechanic certification preferred but not essential. There are no minimum academic requirements. Further training will be provided on-the-job as required. General Duties / Responsibilities / Experience: To maintain, diagnose and repair a fleet of buses to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently To perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance on buses To diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension To identify and rectify faults using diagnostic equipment and manual troubleshooting methods To ensure all repairs and maintenance meet safety and regulatory standards. To carry out emergency roadside repairs when required To maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed To adhere to workplace safety protocols and environmental regulations To work as part of a team to ensure an efficient and timely maintenance schedule To provide technical support and guidance to apprentices or junior mechanics Essential knowledge includes technical expertise in heavy vehicle mechanics and a commitment to high-quality service standards Further essential knowledge includes strong understanding of bus and heavy vehicle mechanics, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and suspensions Required technical skills include strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, and diagnostics Further required skills include ability to identify and address mechanical issues accurately, Candidates must be competent to identify and carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on fleet of passenger buses Candidates must be competent to use diagnostic tools, computer software, and manual troubleshooting techniques to identify and fix issues Mechanic certification preferred but not essential Candidate must have at least 3 years of previous experience as a Bus Mechanic Annual remuneration: €36,605.00; Pay rate €18.05 per hour Work Location: Central Bus & Coach Limited, The Old Presbytery, Kenagh, Co.
