HGV Mechanic Employer: Ger Devlin Haulage & Plant Hire Ltd Location: Wicklow, County Wicklow Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: €35,000 - €45,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications) Hours: 39-45 hours per week Work Location: On-site/In Person About the Role We are seeking a motivated and reliable HGV Mechanic to join our team in Wicklow. The successful candidate will work within a busy transport and maintenance operation carrying out repairs, servicing, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on a fleet of heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and associated equipment. Key Responsibilities Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ABS, AdBlue, and engine management system faults. Complete scheduled vehicle inspections, safety checks, and preventative maintenance programmes. Perform breakdown assistance and emergency repairs when required. Prepare vehicles for CVRT and other statutory inspections. Maintain accurate maintenance records and job sheets. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures. Use diagnostic equipment and workshop tools effectively. Assist in maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment. Conduct 12-week checks and general vehicle maintenance. Candidate Requirements Relevant qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Motor Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent trade certification. Minimum 2 years' experience working with HGVs, trucks, trailers, commercial vehicles, or plant machinery. Experience with diagnostics, fault-finding, ABS systems, AdBlue systems, and general vehicle maintenance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Self-motivated with a positive work ethic. Desirable Requirements HGV/Truck driving licence. Experience working on fleet maintenance programmes. Welding or fabrication experience. Experience with modern diagnostic software and equipment. Employment Details Permanent full-time position. Salary: €35,000 - €45,000 per annum. Working hours: 39 to 45 hours per week. Overtime may be available subject to business requirements. Tools and transport may be provided where applicable.
