Job summary We are looking for a confident Speech and Language Therapist (Band 5) with a passion for delivering outstanding care. Youll be working full time, 40 hours a week, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Gledholt and Cygnet Adarna House.
Gledholt is nine-bed enhanced community residential home providing outcome focused care for adults with learning disability accompanied with behaviour that may challenge including mental illness, co-morbid substance misuse or a forensic background.
Cygnet Adarna House is a nine-bed rehabilitation service for men with mental illness and a secondary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Adarna House provides a homely and community facing environment for individuals who are preparing for community life, but need further support to move to more independent living.
This role is split across both locations, with 3 days at Gledholt and 2 days at Adarna House, with occasional referral-based input to Gledholts neighbouring service Gledholt Mews and Coach House.

Speech and Language Therapist (band 5 equivalent)
Permanent, Full-time (40h / 5 days per week)
Salary: up to £35,465 depending on experience

What does the job involve?
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will have the opportunity to deliver an evidence-based SLT service to meet the needs of the complex client group within community rehabilitation and residential settings. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will use your skills and knowledge to assess, advise and intervene with the aim of promoting functional communication systems and optimal independence. You will be able to train others, promote good practice and maintain a successful inclusive communication environment. You will be accountable to the Director of Speech and Language Therapy and the onsite service managers. You will participate in visual discharge planning and adopt a humanistic approach.

A strong interest in mental health and/or Learning Disability and Autism An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred approaches Evidence of being a strong team player with a focus on interdisciplinary working Good organisational and time management skills Ability to work flexibly whilst remaining calm under pressure Innovative, enthusiastic, motivated and passionate with high regard for professional boundaries
