An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Experienced Urgent Care Practitioner to join our small friendly team at Malton Urgent Treatment Centre. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible, reliable and friendly individual who is passionate about patient care. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, patients and support staff. You will be a highly valued member of an excellent team of existing practitioners and nursing staff.You will be a independent practitioner acting within your professional boundaries, you will work autonomously, You will deliver safe, effective clinical decision-making and expert quality care, including assessment, diagnosis, clinical management and evaluation to the local population. You will have the attitude, skills and knowledge base to deliver quality holistic care and treatment.You will be qualified in Minor illness and Minor injuries and be a non medical prescriber or be willing to do non medical prescribing course within your first year. It is an exciting time to join the time as we embark on service improvements focusing on clinical pathways to ensure that urgent care is delivered to the local community when they need it.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to take a complete history and perform clinical examination to diagnose and implement treatment for patients presenting with varied conditions.
The post holder is also required to be able to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and discharge patients or refer to a specialist as necessary. As an autonomous practitioner, the post holder will work within their scope of practice and according to broad local policies and procedures.
The post holder must be proactive in promoting health and well-being to patients and give health advice and education, and act as a mentor and to other staff members and nursing students.
You will be expected to further your own education with the support of the trust, keep up to date with skills and competencies, monitor and update local policies and procedures and to develop and participate in clinical research.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications Essential
Level 1 registered Nurse/ registered paramedic Minor Injuries qualification Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience (approx. 3years experience) Recognised teaching / assessing course
Desirable
Non- Medical prescriber qualification or willing to complete within the first year in post.
Experience Essential
Service development and / or change management Specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and clinical experience Audit and Standard setting
Skills Essential
Competent in specialist skills appropriate to the role e.g. interpretation & management of abnormalities identified on X Rays. Ability to organise and prioritise.
