Job summary
We are looking for a Specialist Health Advisor to join our team!
The Specialist Health Advisors for SEND (SHAS) service supports children and young people who are identified as having additional education, health and care needs.
We play a supporting role in helping children, young people and their families who need an Education Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) to understand their health needs that may impact their education.
We support the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Designated Clinical Officer (DCO) for SEND to ensure that they fully discharge all of their statutory duties for children and young people (CYP) with SEND.
Main duties of the job
You will jointly manage a team of Specialist Health Advisors for SEND whilst working alongside the Professional Lead and Head of Service to ensure an effective, integrated and well-coordinated service.
You will work within a team responsible primarily for providing a health contribution for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and / or Disability (SEND) as part of their Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment, and for those C&YP with an Education, Health and Care Plan already in place.
You will provide expert clinical opinion, support and guidance whilst acting as a conduit for information exchange between each of the three the Local Authorities (Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset) and the clinical services provided within Sirona's Children's Services.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Nurse or Clinical Psychologist Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience demonstrated through clinical practice
Desirable
SEND Training levels 1-4 Post graduate Leadership or Management Qualification
Experience and Skills Essential
Experience in line management or supervision Knowledge and understanding of the key issues affecting outcomes for children, young people and families, particularly children and young people with SEND Experience of working collaboratively with Local Authority and Education partners, either at a leadership level or at a clinical level A thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the statutory duties of the EHCNA process
Desirable
An understanding of some of the key challenges currently being faced both locally and nationally in relation to SEND Experience of initiating, implementing and managing change and service improvement
