Job summary

We are pleased to offer an exciting part-time opportunity for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Department and work across multiple clinical teams at Pilgrim Hospital. This role is ideal for individuals looking to take their first step into a career in healthcare.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside therapy staff, nurses, and doctors to deliver holistic and person-centred assessments within a variety of inpatient settings. The successful candidate will support and deliver evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions--including participation in home assessments--to help patients regain or maintain independence in activities that matter most to them.

In addition to patient-facing work, you will contribute to essential departmental tasks that support the smooth and efficient operation of the Occupational Therapy service.

The post-holder will be based at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, with an expectation to travel and work at least one other site--most likely Lincoln County Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be welcomed to the Integrated Therapy team of the Occupational Therapy Department and join a friendly team working across different teams. You will be working with individuals with whom have experienced a different acute illnesses or long term conditions. Appropriate training will be provided to support your role and development within these areas and future opportunities within Occupational Therapy.

To undertake support work which may be practice based, house-keeping or administrative duties in Occupational Therapy.

To work with patients as delegated by a therapist within the integrated team. The successful candidate will be supported by highly skilled and experienced therapists as well as have opportunities for professional development and supervision.

The successful candidate must be committed to improving the care and assessment of people within an acute setting.

Quaifications Essential

GCSE English - Grade 4-9 or equivalent GCSE Grades 1-3 or above in 3 additional subjects or equivalent

Desirable

ECDL or equivalent GCSE Maths NVQ level II Other related Healthcare qualifications

Previous Experience Essential

Experience of working in a public facing environment. Experience of working in a team Experience of using effective communication skills including face to face, telephone and written.

Desirable

Previous experience of working in a health and /or social care environment Experience of working with people with illness or disability Experience of working under pressure

Knowledge/skills/aptitudes Essential

A clear understanding of Occupational Therapy Very good verbal and written communication skills IT Skills - Digitally literate Good organisational skills Ability to use their own initiative whilst recognising when to seek further assistance. Ability to demonstrate non-discriminatory and inclusive practice Caring and compassionate Resilient Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
