About this role

Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join this dynamic and internationally respected EQA programme based within the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.

The individual will be required to work with administrative staff and healthcare scientists in the area of Immunology, Immunochemistry & Allergy by delivering an efficient and responsive EQA service to UK and international clinical laboratories.

This is a non-patient facing role within UK NEQAS and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that will ideally suit an individual looking to join an internationally respected team and be exposed to new and exciting developments.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide specific clerical, secretarial, business and administrative duties for the UK NEQAS Centre.

The main duties of the role are:

To provide an efficient and effective admin and clerical service to UK NEQAS IIA To carry out routine duties relating to the office and laboratory and to provide and effective secretarial service to UK NEQAS IIA To be a point of contact for all direct enquiries (including telephone enquiries), ensure these are acted upon appropriately.

The duties of this post are varied and interesting with the successful individual expected to use their own initiative and work without close supervision on occasions but still be able to work as part of a team.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE Grade C (or equivalent qualification) in English Language and maths NVQ/RSA or OCR at level 3, or relevant secretarial, admin and clerical experience that would equate to level 3

Desirable

Other typing / audio typing / IT qualification or equivalent experience

Experience Essential

Relevant secretarial experience / experience in a secretarial or clerical role Audio typing skills and experience Knowledge and understanding of clerical procedures within a large organisation Experience of Microsoft office packages especially Word and Excel Computer literacy

Desirable

Use of databases and data input Reception work Minute taking Experience of ordering supplies and maintaining adequate stock levels within department Experience of working in a customer services environment Electronic diary management

Further Training Essential

Willingness to partake in STH mandatory training

Knowledge of ESR and PALMS

Special Skills/Aptitudes Essential

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively when working to tight deadlines Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present information in a clear manner The ability to work as part of a team The ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to acquire knowledge of Laboratory test repertoire Be proactive, flexible and adaptable to change
