Job summary
We are looking for skilled and dynamic Clinical Specialists with a passion for delivering outstanding patient care, and a commitment to least restrictive practice and acting in the patient's best interest. You willbe required to complete trauma informed psychosocial assessments and develop safe and effective collaborative plans with service users. The service acknowledges that we often see people at their most vulnerable and as such it is essential that we provide, compassionate and trauma informed care.The service is dynamic and fast paced and the role, therefore, requires stamina, resilience, and the ability to work in a joined-up way with Trust services as well as with our acute hospital colleagues.As a central London service, you will see the complete spectrum of mental health presentations from people with very diverse backgrounds and as such you will need to be someone mindful of cultural differences.
Main duties of the job
Clinical/PracticeThe post-holder will:1. Have theoretical knowledge of mental health liaison emergency and ward-based work deploying a wide range of theoreticalapproaches and utilise awide variety of clinical skills appropriate to the needs of individual patientsand the clinical setting in which they are required to be seen.2. Be accountable and take direct responsible for carrying out specialist assessments including risk assessments unsupervised.Develop, implement, evaluate, and document specialist care.3. Undertake PMVA techniques to prevent and manage escalation in terms ofpatient harm to self and others.4. Work closely with the NCL wide crisis services and maintain good workingpractices with all other CRTs as a means of ensuring least restrictivepractice and outcomes.5. Make autonomous decisions with regard to the admission and discharge ofpatients based on an analysis of complex presenting problems, andjudgement about available options within agreed protocols. Direct and guidejunior doctors on rotation with the service (including locums).6. Provide a consultation-liaison and assessment service to clinicians andclinical teams within the general hospital. This will include giving specialistadvice on a range of care, treatment and patient management issues.

Nurse or Social worker Essential
Band 6 or SW6
Experience Essential
Demonstrable experience in a senior specialist capacity assessing and caring for people with mental health or substance misuse issues in a community care or inpatient setting Working knowledge of MHA 1983.

Previous liaison experience
Skills and abilities Essential
Able to demonstrate an understanding of the personal and clinical needs of individual service users, their relatives and carers. Ability to negotiate and influence.
