Job summary
The TSSU (Sterile Services) department is an enthusiastic team who work in a busy fast paced department. The Sterile Services Department reprocesses surgical instruments for the Trust and surrounding areas. This is a physically demanding role with repetitive tasks. This role involves periods of standing and manual handling duties with some sets weighing up to 13KG.The Trust is not only tackling the waiting list backlog following the Covid pandemic but has also increased in Trauma procedures at the WRH.
There is currently a vacancy for a Sterile Services Supervisor job within the TSSU department. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 12pm-8pm. The department offers a six month on the job training programme. The department is looking to offer a decontamination science qualification in the future. Opportunities do arise within the department to progress to potentially a future manager.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to organise the day to day running of the shift ensuring work flows through the department and the instruments are processed in a timely manner. You will either be working in the clean room or wash area, working along side the Sterile Services Assistants in those areas.

Job description Job responsibilities
To supervise the day to day activities of the Sterile Services on the Worcester site through effective leadership, management of staff and resources, working with all members of the sterile services team to deliver a high quality, cost effective service to the Acute and Community Trusts and any other customers (GP surgeries, Health centres, etc.). To ensure that this service is delivered in accordance with accepted best practice, Trust and department specific policies and procedures. To provide supervision, support and education to qualified and unqualified staff.

Qualifications Essential
Following initial 6 month period must be prepared to undertake additional training to achieve nationally recognised qualifications
Desirable
Recognised qualification in Sterile Services IDSC, NVQ or similar
Experience Essential
Previous work in Sterile Services or clean room Manufacturing or similar department hospital setting
