About this role

Job summary The post holder will achieve this by: The post holder will be a Registered Speech and Language Therapist responsible for children and their families allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan and deliver care, including being professionally and legally accountable. The post holder will work autonomously as a Specialist SALT within the Integrated Childrens Services team in various settings. The post holder will support their peers and team leader and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively support and liaise with other health and social care professionals and agencies

Main duties of the job y Responsibilities: Independently manage and differential diagnose a caseload of pre-school and school aged clients with a range of speech, language and communication needs. This may include clients with an Education, Health and Care plan. Devise and deliver appropriate specialist intervention/care plans/enhanced models of SLT for clients with complex communication needs and provide suitable and timely support. Undertake feeding/swallowing assessment and support according to the post holders level of experience/training and as required of the role. Work as part of the integrated multi disciplinary team ensuring the delivery of joined up care plans. Contribute to multidisciplinary support for clients with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties. Provide feedback, advice and training to parents/family members, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team regarding communication needs and strategies to facilitate development. Develop and deliver training and support packages.

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Dysphagia and Early Years Complex Communication Team. Main duties of the job

Speech and Language Therapists are core to the efficient service delivery that we provide to children, young people and their families. As a Speech and Language Therapist in our service, you will deliver care to children, young people and their families in the community, schools and in the clinic setting. You will be working within our well-established, supportive and dynamic Early Years Complex Communication and Dysphagia Team. You will provide assessments and interventions for children with complex communication needs, including implementing AAC. You will work in the dysphagia team working with children from the early years up to 19 years who are special schools. You will also work in the joint assessment clinic with the multidisciplinary team, working with Paediatricians, Occupational Therapists and physiotherapists.

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, Goodmayes) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,870 to a maximum of £6,137 p.a. pro rata for part time).
