Job summary
We are looking to recruit to a part-time (5PAs) Consultant Neurologist to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital delivering outpatient clinics.

Main duties of the job
Appointments are made to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the person appointed is required to be sufficiently flexible to undertake their main clinical duties at any of the sites within the Region and/or to change their base hospital.
The appointee, together with consultant colleagues, will be responsible for the provision of adult neurological services to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the routine outpatient general neurological and sub-specialty clinics in Sheffield at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
The person appointed will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. They will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the Department.

Qualifications Essential
Registered with the GMC with a licence to practice. Name on the specialist register for Neurology or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

Clinical experience Essential
Ability to work as an independent practitioner in Neurology Has developed (or is willing to develop) a complementary area of sub-specialist interest in Neurology. Understanding of evidence-based medical practice. Experience with the management of complex epilepsies and other seizure disorders Skills and competence in the management of patients with neurological conditions
Desirable
Experience of epilepsy surgery evaluation Has an interest functional neurological disorder
Research Essential
Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
