About this role

Job summary

To be eligible you must be a qualified GP.

This is a fixed-term salaried contract of 4 to 6 sessions per week for 6 months, with potential for extension subject to service need.

Current session availability includes:

Full day Monday orFull Day Wednesday orFull day Friday orThursday PMThere is opportunity to combine routine clinical sessions with specialist interest development.

Main duties of the job

Core responsibilities may include, on occasion, additional duties dependent upon workload and staffing requirements

a. Delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local/national guidance

d. Effective management of long term conditions

e. Processing admin in a timely manner, incl referrals, repeat script request & associated clinical admin tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertaking telephone triage & duty doctor responsibilities

g. Maintaining accurate clinical records in line with policy, guidance & good clinical practice

h. Working collaboratively & contributing fairly to the practice workload

i. Adhering to best practice guidance & participating in audit & quality improvement processes

j. Contributing to continuous improvement & quality initiatives within the practice

k. Attending & contributing effectively to practice meetings as required

l. Supporting the development & maintenance of the practice, including clinical governance & training

m. Ensuring compliance with appraisal & revalidation requirements

n. Supporting continued professional development across the wider practice team

o. Supporting the training of medical students & other learners where appropriate

p. Supporting the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice

q. Reviewing & adhering to practice protocols and policies

r. Promoting collab working & a culture of continuous improvement

Chorlton Family Practice is a large training practice in South Manchester with a supportive, enthusiastic team in a relaxed and encouraging working environment. We have a practice list size of over 22,500. The practice is recently under new management and has a Google review rating of 4/5, a CQC inspection was carried out in January 2025, the outcome for the practice was 'Good'.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Qualified GP MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a primary care environment Commitment to continued professional development General understanding of the primary care contract

Desirable

Experience of clinical audit and quality improvement activities

Eligibility Essential

Full GMC registration National Performers List registration England Appropriate medical defence indemnity (MPS/MDU) Evidence of current validation Evidence of last appraisal Eligibility to practise independently in the UK
