Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen on Churchill ward at the Harbour for highly motivated and professional band 6 Clinical Lead to join the team. In coming into this role, the successful candidate will join an established nursing team, and will have opportunity to further develop their skills in a supportive environment.

The successful candidate will bring excellent role modelling skills, a passion for supporting and developing junior colleagues, including student nurses and they should have a keen interest in quality improvement projects that can lead to improvements in patient care and staff wellbeing.

You should bring with you experience of nursing people with acute mental health needs, have experience of supporting colleagues and students with development, and a "can-do" attitude.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to work across a shift pattern, being part of a team that provides 24/7 care and treatment to male and female service users with acute mental health needs. There will be occasions when you may need to support other wards, including our 136 suite, PICUs and older adult wards.

Responsibilities will include providing meaningful clinical and managerial supervision to staff within the team; supporting and developing learners in practice; shift leading, administering medication, shift work, engaging with patients to support recovery, including leading on dialog+ assessments; ensuring that the clinical environments meet high infection control and cleaning standards; representing the ward at meetings which may involve preparing and presenting reports; administering medication and monitoring for side effects; completing physical health checks on patients and escalating concerns as and where required.

Qualifications Essential

Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification Post graduate qualification or experience On-going registration with the NMC.

Knowledge Essential

Demonstrate understanding of how research has influenced practice Can provide evidence of recent professional/personal development Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures

Experience Essential

Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Supervision and management of staff Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs
