Legal Support, a part of SMS Legal, is responsible for enabling the business to take risk informed and balanced decisions across all legal disciplines, by providing qualitative legal support. This requires accuracy, strong integrity and solid business understanding as well as proficiency across legal and compliance disciplines. We are now looking for a confident and proven legal professional to take on the position as Head of Legal Support – a versatile position where you get to balance your dedication to business law with your business-driven mind, in a truly global setting. This position is flexible between Stockholm and Sandviken, and traveling is a natural part of the job. Your mission – Providing and promoting world class legal support on a global arena As Head of Legal Support, you have a truly diverse and broad responsibility. You lead and manage an international team of nine or ten members, based in Sweden, China, Russia, India, Brazil and Mexico – requiring your leadership to be just as flexible and diverse as the location of your co-workers. Together with your team, you provide legal advice and identify legal risks within all fields of business law; including intellectual property, M&A, general contract, competition law and distribution and agency. With a strong proactive approach, you and your team set strategies and guidelines for our future work and you continuously ensure our organization is up to date and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. This includes implementation of relevant policies and procedures as well as management of legal training and legal risk management of agreements, and to capture and synergize common ways of working. Furthermore, an important part of the work is managing key stakeholders across the business. In this position, you report to the Business Area General Counsel. Your character – A confident business law professional with a passion for leadership We are looking for someone with a Master of Law degree and at least ten years of business law experience, gained from a corporate in-house legal organization and/or a reputable business law firm. You’re an experienced leader who understands the unique responsibility that comes with leading law professionals, and you are used to working in a global setting. Previous experience from working in the manufacturing industry is considered a plus. As we operate in an international setting, you communicate fluently in both verbal and written English, while skills in Swedish or German are considered advantageous. We strongly value your personality, characterized by your decisive mindset and confident way; allowing you to efficiently get things done while still maintaining and building strong, long lasting relationships. You have a genuine interest for business and law, and a great understanding of how to separate larger from minor risks – which together with your previous experience gives you a solid foundation in providing hands on advice and dealing with ambiguity. You understand the importance of true teamwork, which inspires you to develop your leadership further, and your communicative skills make you gain trust and respect from both relevant stakeholders and co-workers.
