About this role
The Teacher is reports directly to the Coordinator or Principal and is responsible for active contribution to the realization of the Philosophy and Purpose, Objectives, and Policies of the School Board and the well-being of Futuraskolan International School of Stockholm students in all aspects. He/she is expected to work in close consultation with management teams, actively promote openness and give constructive criticism and exhibit teamwork and initiative. He/she is expected to model personal characteristics from the IPC/IMYC personal curriculum, in word, demeanour, dress, punctuality, respect and performance that are desirable in the development of our students and for our school so that we can develop as a professional learning team. Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an advantage. Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection. Included in the recruitment process will be a local and national police check as well as a mandatory police background check from the last year of employment in every country worked. The post holder will also be responsible for the following: Teaching ▪ Cooperate as a member of a teaching team to plan instructional programs in a timely manner that meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of students. ▪ Meet and instruct, with prepared materials, assigned groups of children in the locations and at the times designated. ▪ Encourage students to set and maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior. ▪ Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. ▪ Take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and welfare of members of the class and, indirectly, for all children within the school during teaching times, break times and throughout the school day. ▪ Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. ▪ Employ contemporary techniques using modern methods and teaching aides as well as arranging field trips as appropriate to accomplish the desired goals. Administrative ▪ Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by the school. ▪ Consult with other relevant teachers and support staff to track performance, academic progress and pastoral care of students under your care. ▪ Provide regular and constructive feedback via Skolplattformen, the website, staff e-mail, newsletters, and whole-class or individual discussions. Our aims is to promote effective communication with students, parents and colleagues to keep the school community informed on the activities and topics of the class and the progress our students. ▪ Attend parent teacher conferences as scheduled, as well as remain accessible to students and parents for education-related purposes, opinions and concerns beyond the school day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. ▪ Participate in after school activities and attend various school functions, particularly when they pertain to your class or extracurricular club. ▪ Take all necessary precautions to protect, maintain and return all equipment and materials to designated areas. ▪ Act as first intermediary when special attention may be required to overcome academic problems for a student in your charge. Inform and work with the relevant learning support teacher, EAL teacher, school psychologist or Principal. ▪ Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/procedures or rules governing student life and develop order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. ▪ Act as a mentor, if requested by the Principal or Coordinator, for a teacher new to the school. ▪ Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for Teacher Assistants and volunteers if provided. ▪ Attend staff meetings, teacher in-service days, professional development seminars and serve on staff committees. ▪ Suggest changes to relevant Coordinator to accomplish; o Health and Safety needs. o Maintenance needs of classroom. ▪ Suggest changes to curriculum as necessary to accomplish; o Special activities and events. o Adequate and appropriate resourcing. ▪ Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Coordinator or Principal Futuraskolan is a privately owned school organisation with pre-schools and schools in the Stockholm area.
