WORK EXPERIENCE Min 5 years university teaching experience and min 5 years in management level, this position requires a varying work schedule and may include some evening and weekend hours. The specific work schedule may change from week to week depending on the demands of the responsibilities of the position. JOB DESCRIPTION To develop, manage and monitor the ITL/Islamic Theology and Leadership program that is conducted in Kista folkhögskola. This includes associated operational administration, curriculum development, quality management and enhancement (including accreditation by relevant professional institutions where appropriate). You will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the Islamic studies at Kista folkhögskola in accordance with Kista folkhögskola strategies, policies and procedures. The position also includes teaching and research activities. Contribute to decisions that helps improve the learning and teaching experience with in Kista folkhögskola. RESPONSIBILITIES As the Department director for the ITL program, you shall be responsible for: - Student learning experience - to act as a coach and mentor the ITL students in providing guidance for furthering their studies to the university level - managing the ITL program - daily operational processes as well as the management of the department - contributing to the development of learning and teaching strategies, as well as the academic processes across the ITL program - engaging in knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities (via individual and collaborative academic projects) - being aware and informed of developments in higher education relevant to the development of learning, teaching and research strategies within the community and folkhögskola ecosystem MANAGING PEOPLE AND RESOURCES - managing a team of lecturers, teachers and administrative personnel (setting goals and monitoring progress) - contributing to the development of the team members (individual goals, as well as team goals) - creating work plans in accordance to the goals and the deliverabilities of the ITL program - cooperating and collaborate with other departments in Kista folkhögskola - participating in Kista folkhögskola activities and programs Kista folkhögskola was founded in 2007 and is Jarva district’s first folkhögskola. It is also the only folkhögskola with a Muslim profile among all of Sweden’s 154 folkhögskolor. Our work is based on an enriched folkbildning (popular education) ideology that has long been grounded in the development of Sweden’s democracy. Set within an intercultural educational environment, Kista folkhögskola plays a critical role in building and contributing to the Swedish-Muslim identity. The program of Islamic theology and leadership is conducted as a two to four-year education that provides in cooperation with universities and other education institutions. The program aims to provide an understanding of the interplay between the spiritual and the worldly. By studying Islam's teachings in history and today, deeper knowledge of leadership is offered which is characterized by Muslim principles and with regard to today's Swedish, democratic Society.
