About this role

Our values At Avalanche Studios, we believe in worlds without limits, and we are committed to develop a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strive to hire great talent from a variety of backgrounds. Being part of our world is not contingent on where you’re from, your gender, or sexual orientation. It’s all about your passion, courage and craftsmanship. The Position Avalanche Studios is looking for a smart, driven and creative UX designer. When gamers talk about our games, they talk about over-the-top-action in massive open worlds. After we hire you, our fans will talk about something else, too a memorable player experience driven by beautiful and appealing user interfaces. Visual and interaction design are your obsession, and creating a smooth, accessible and meaningful player experience is your mission. Your specialty is to simplify complex ideas while inventing new ways to solve problems with design. You have a significant game culture and a comprehensive understanding of the current state of UX in videogames. You are technically savvy with a deep background in Flash, a flair for motion graphics, and a secret interest in procedural effects like particle systems. We want you to join us in Stockholm to conceive, push and design the entire user-interface chain for our next AAA console and PC games. We want you with a knack for innovation: your work is going to need to look and feel innovative into the future. To pull this off, you'll work closely with dedicated UI programmers and artists, and more broadly with the entire all-star development team we've assembled in Stockholm. Required Qualifications UX / UI design experience on at least one published console game Strong Photoshop and Flash skills The ability to conceive a user interface that isn't just a glorified list of buttons and the wisdom to know when that inventiveness is appropriate An abiding love of open-world action games Desired Qualifications Familiarity with Scaleform A fair bit of 3D modeling experience Some background in animation A great eye for typography An appreciation for dynamic effects like particle systems or procedural modeling (maybe you don't have the scripting chops to develop a chaotic system on your own, but you can produce strong concepts in collaboration with a UI programmer) At least a bit of scripting ability, preferably in ActionScript or Python We review applications continuously, so please apply as soon as possible. Here's what well need to see: Your detailed resume in English A fantastic digital portfolio or demo reel Stockholm Studio Our state of the art studio is located in the beautiful area of Södermalm, in the center of Stockholm and the Game industry Hub. Our studio is a beautiful place inspired by our catalog of games, from the lush jungle of a lobby (Just Cause) to the corroded steel beams housing the light fixtures above your new workplace (Mad Max). We hope you’ll come to think of this place as your home turf and creative foundation. To apply for this position please register below with a detailed CV and cover letter. A portfolio demonstrating all aspects of your skills is also required. Apply as soon as possible as we review applications continuously. All further information is provided under non-disclosure agreement only. All applicants are required to relocate to work full-time in Stockholm.
