Role Summary: The Primary responsibility of this role is to take leadership of an Painted Body & Closures domain. You will ensure that resource and plans are in place with technical objectives to deliver all project milestones in a timely manner with a high quality of event. You will ensure ‘early’ sight of control ‘metrics’ and ongoing management. Dimension of Function: Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D) is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on projects Volvo Cars. This position manages a whole domain of up to 20 people and is an important management role in the wider business and will contribute both strategically and operationally. Area of Responsibility: The position has the following responsibilities and duties: • Be the ‘go to’ person for customer engineering function department head. • Be the ‘Link’ to the customer engineering function department in terms of understanding: Technical strategies, ‘best practice’ design & engineering principles, Lessons learnt. • Ensure single best practice working processes developed & employed. • Ensure single best practice reporting processes developed & employed. • Guiding and mentoring offshore engineering teams to help build capability and skills and ensure customer expectations and requirements are met and establishing a solutioning mentality • Ensuring service levels are in accordance with the agreed deliverables & SLA#s (Work loading, Quality, On Time Delivery etc), Ensuring clients provide key inputs in accordance with agreed timing to ensure projects remain on track. • Ensuring that offshore engineering team is kept fully loaded with a healthy pipeline of activity and creating demand for further growth. • Look for synergies across projects or services for ways to offer more value to the client or enhance efficiency of our services. • Act as a Services Architect to develop existing services or to create new lines of service • Work with the Sales team to develop a client account strategies. • Upkeep of function team training matrix & plans. • Set and deliver objectives to meet the group business plan and continue to grow the recognized technical excellence. • Ensuring successful planning for project gateway reviews • Ensuring that the design and development tasks are undertaken using defined and agreed standards and methodologies. • Plan and deliver the future technology requirements for the business. • Contribute to the resource planning process for future programmes & ‘added starters’ Knowledge / Experience • Strong technical understanding within a specific Painted Body & Closures Engineering Domain. • The successful applicant will most likely have previously held management responsibility and lead an automotive system/ module./ CoC team • You will need to be an exceptional project leader, with experience of engineering team management, experience of product design perhaps involving complex systems integration or the use of multiple technologies. • You will also need experience of financial planning, engineering development and virtual product creation using a variety of computer aided solutions. • You will be degree educated or significant equivalent experience or qualifications. • Ability to lead the resolution of business, technical and process issues as they arise. • Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes will also prove invaluable. • Successful history of delivery within the automotive sector • Experience of Volvo processes, methodologies, and metrics would be advantageous • Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to engage with all members of team as well as senior management both internally and with clients. • Have an openness and awareness of Asian, European and foreign cultures.
