Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: utilizing office automation programs to receive incoming correspondence; compose routine correspondence from verbal or written instructions; schedule appointments and maintaining office records to include time and attendance, payroll and/or leave records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. The Hiring Manager may require a typing proficiency test be administered to verify meeting the typing requirements for this position. Applicants determined to not meet the typing proficiency will be considered ineligible and will not receive consideration for this position. Major DutiesReview outgoing correspondence for technical accuracy. (Format, grammar, accuracy, conformance to office policy, completeness, coherence and consistency. Etc.). Use automated software to develop correspondence.Manage office communication by composing letters, inter-office memos, and/or faxes. Manage incoming correspondence for proper distribution.Organize information to compile reports for the office.Facilitate timely responses to meet deadlines or suspense dates.Organize filing systems to ensure proper storage of office documents.Maintain suspense records on correspondence and follow up to ensure timely response.Provide information and guidance on school procedures, reports, and requirements, as well as school programs, polices, procedures, and activities.Review inquiry responses to ensure responses are within policy guidelines and procedures.Coordinate meetings or briefings to ensure all participants are provided the agenda, background material, or other necessary information.Processes timecards and personnel/position actions for all assigned staff.Receive callers or visitors to direct inquiries to staff members
