Sandvik Materials Technology in Sandviken is looking for a Head of Patents SENIOR IP PROFESSIONAL & A PEOPLE MANAGER? The patent team is responsible for the SMT patent portfolio, from harvesting inventions to portfolio management, and provides support to the R&D and business units in all patent related matters. Our patent portfolio ranges across a wide variety of technical disciplines, including: metallurgy, steel manufacturing processes, powder metallurgy, furnace components and heating technology. We are now looking for our new Head of Patents. Location is preferably Sandviken, but Stockholm or Hallstahammar could work as well. Job Summary As Head of Patents your mission is to lead the BA patent team to achieve the overall objectives of both Sandvik and BA SMT, and to support innovation as well as protect and evolve the patent portfolio. You provide value-added IP services to support the BA, thereby contributing in securing the business model, driving innovation, and further strengthening SMT’s offering of products and services with maximum added value to the customers. You have financial responsibility for the team and are a member of relevant management committees and teams within Sandvik and the BA. You are also responsible for defining the BA IP strategy, and supporting the IP strategy development in the product areas, along with driving of a solution oriented business approach to current IP related matters. You also ensure that risks with regards to IP are identified and managed. You build, coach and motivate your team to deliver results, and improve processes to protect IP and enforce IP rights within your area of responsibility. You develop contact interfaces with stakeholders within the BA and Sandvik and work closely together with them to improve patent operations. Occasional international travel is part of this position.
