The primary purpose of the position is to perform electrician duties for healthcare facilities within VASNHCS. The incumbent will be required to assist other trades persons and/or any other work as assigned by the supervisor to meet the mission of Facility Management Service (FMS).

Major DutiesMajor duties include but are not limited to: Incumbent works in a healthcare environment and may be required to don personal protective equipment. Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, trouble shoots, test and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and all equipment as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Incumbent shall read system diagrams and schematics, interpret basic electronic terms and symbols, and apply a variety of electrical formulas, tables, charts, and color codes in order to mount, ground, and install wiring and equipment for electrical/electronic systems. Incumbent works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, electrical maintenance, and repair manuals to plan and layout the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load continuity and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls. Incumbent shall conduct research and write work orders for approval by supervisor and assist in maintain stock levels for timely repairs. He/she is required to keep all stock and shop areas neat, clean, and orderly. Incumbent receives work through the electronic work order system. Work Schedule: Full Time, 0730 - 1600 Position Description Title/PD#: ELECTRICIAN/PD03063-A Physical Requirements: The incumbent often works from ladders, scaffolding and hydraulic work platforms. He/she often works in portions of the electrical systems requiring attention that are in cramped, dirty, and hard to-reach locations. The work involves prolonged crouching and standing and frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in exhausting and uncomfortable positions. The incumbent frequently lifts or carries tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
