The Counselling Foundation invites applications for the role of External Examiner for three specialist programmes:
Advanced Diploma in Contemporary Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (Level 7 equivalent) – maps to SCoPEd Column C Advanced Certificate in Psychodynamic Clinical Skills (Level 5 equivalent) – maps to SCoPEd Column B Diploma in Contemporary Psychodynamic Counselling (Levels 4- 6 equivalent) – maps to SCoPEd Columns A & B
Role Details
Start Date: As soon as possible
Term: 4 years tenure (subject to notice)
Commitment:
Review course content, delivery and assessment standards to ensure it is set at the level at which it is awarded and is equivalent to similar validated qualifications at the same level Review sample student work Attend one Exam Board per year (July) and submit an annual report Approximate workload: 20-25 hours per course annually, depending on course Ensure comparability of standards with similar programmes
The candidate must not have any current association with The Counselling Foundation or its personnel
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Currently teaching at a university (does not necessarily need to be in a related subject) Level 7 qualification in Psychodynamic or Integrative Counselling/Psychotherapy Experience in teaching and assessment within Higher Education Familiarity with QAA UK Quality Code and SCoPEd framework Knowledge of UK HE quality assurance standards Professional registration with BACP, UKCP, or equivalent
Experience in moderation, verification, and external examining
Desirable
Candidates with a strong academic background may be considered if experience in moderation, verification, and external examining is more limited Recent experience with assessment design and quality assurance
