Job SummaryThis is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Positions of DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Position is located at Tripler Army Medical Center. This is an open continuous announcement. Multiple vacancies exist and may be filled from this announcement. QualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education or/and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes: communicating with customers and personnel, assisting the supervisor with inventory management and utilizing automation software and hardware to complete tasks. OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes: receiving urine specimens; updating an electronic tracking database showing the storage of specimens; and assisting with the preparation of laboratory documentation for use in legal proceedings. OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Chemistry, or Forensic Science. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Major DutiesPoint of contact for all specimens received by the Laboratory.Provide general guidance consisting of policy and objectives.Responsible for preparing memoranda, correspondence, recurring reports, and other laboratory documentation that is generally free of format, spelling, and grammatical errors.Perform technical and administrative support functions as necessary.Receive, inventory and process specimens.
