ABB’s FACTS unit in Västerås, Sweden, part of the group’s Power Grids division, currently has a vacancy for a Commissioning engineer, at our Global Service Center. If you want to work with advanced power and electrical systems and have the necessary drive and customer focus, FACTS offer a stimulating and dynamic environment in a global context where you will be working at the forefront of the industry. Tasks: As Commissioning Engineer within the Global Field Services, you will work with high quality deliveries and cost effective solutions for our customers. You will focus on preparation, testing, validation, reporting and follow up on Greenfield/Brownfield assignments. You will occasionally also participate in Service work of FACTS plants around the world. This opens up for a stimulating role where you will work with all parts of a FACTS application from computer based control system to high voltage equipment like transformers, thyristor valves and cooling system. As you will travel about 60% of your time, mostly international, you can look forward to build up a large network and to have frequent contact with other engineering groups, project managers, local ABB offices, suppliers and our customers. You will for sure get the possibility to visit and face different countries and cultures. Requirements: We are looking for a driven, quality-orientated achiever for this position. To excel in this position, you need to be organized, responsive and solution-driven, with a strong focus on delivering high quality results and serving the customer. You need to be able to work both in teams and independent. A BSc in engineering, with a specialisation in electrical power, electronics, computer science or similar is required. Preferably you combine this with some years’ of experience from similar positions working with deliveries, services or commissioning’s of electrical power plants and/or control systems. Installation experience is an advantage. An outgoing personality is a must, as this job entails a great deal of customer contacts and close cooperation with colleagues and suppliers. Since you will face the customer directly you also need to have the ability to identify and present improvements to the customer in a professional way.
