QualificationsYour resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating Category 1 floating and all-terrain hydraulic boom cranes (up to 120 tons) to perform critical and precision lifts of submerged loads, ship structures, radioactive components, and weaponry; 2) Lifting large, geometrically complex heavy loads from trailers, barges, or railroad cars, which may require coordinating more than one crane operating near maximum capacity; 3) Operating Category 2 and 3 cranes to make precise load placements in complex and adverse conditions where exact movements are necessary; 4) Operating other heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, backhoes, street sweepers, and snow removal equipment, in support of public works maintenance projects; and 5) Performing routine operator maintenance on heavy equipment, such as cleaning, fueling, oiling, lubricating working parts, and replacing wire rope to keep equipment in a safe and clean condition. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Major DutiesYou will operate floating and all-terrain hydraulic boom Category 1 cranes for critical lifts involving submerged loads, ship equipment, and weaponry.You will perform precision positioning of sensitive materials, including radioactive components, ammunition, and torpedoes, often communicating by hand signal or radio.You will operate a variety of heavy equipment, such as loaders, backhoes, and vacuum trucks, to support public works maintenance projects like excavation and snow removal.You will lift large, geometrically complex loads that may require the use of more than one crane operating near maximum capacity.You will perform routine maintenance on all operated equipment, including cleaning, fueling, oiling, and replacing wire rope to ensure it remains in safe, clean condition.
