Job SummaryAbout the Position: This vacancy is for a Behavioral Health Consultant. The Primary Care Behavioral Health Program provides a team-based approach to healthcare by integrating behavioral health providers and registered nurses into Primary Care Clinics to deliver evidence-based biopsychosocial assessment, treatment,prevention and management of behavioral health problems and bio psychosocially influenced health conditions for Military Health System beneficiaries. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health Consultant): Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting behavioral health assessments; providing individual and group treatment; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Major DutiesServe as a Clinical Psychologist Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) for the Clinic and Behavioral Health System of Care (BHSOC) Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) program.Assess acute mental health and behavioral medicine conditions in beneficiaries who present with such issues.Provide treatment via targeted and efficient appointments for initial and follow-up visits.Perform PCBH biopsychosocial evaluations using expert knowledge of clinical and clinical health psychology.Assist primary care providers with the treatment of patients with known high risk factors such as suicide, history of trauma, and co-occurring substance use disorders.Evaluate clinical records and monitors all objective instrument administration and scoring for quality assurance.Develop, implement, and evaluate professional development activities, coordinates inter and intra-departmental in-service training on PCBH related topics.
