Investing heavily in our team to generate future business opportunities, we are now looking for two solution oriented and innovative R&D Engineers to join our highly skilled team in Sandviken, Sweden. This is a unique opportunity to take part in shaping our industrial future in a truly global environment. Job Summary In this position, you participate in various AM customer projects; supporting in additive manufacturing of a range of materials and with material and process development in the field of powder bed fusion lasers. Together with your team, you develop new AM installations and setups; assist in the research, development and roll-out of new production technology; and take part in both lab testing and visiting customers to conduct field testing of our offerings. As we are an agile and expanding team, your responsibilities spans across functional boundaries and you assist colleagues, customers and internal stakeholders in the development of Sandvik’s AM capability and technology base. An important part of this is to collaborate with other team members; reviewing existing and generating new production processes and testing methods. Furthermore, you share skills and best practice in our function and internal networks and support colleagues in professional growth to increase their ability to deliver. As knowledge transfer in various forums is a vital part of our development, you contribute to this by building strong and lasting networks with the world of academia and universities globally. Keys in your contribution to AM’s success • Keeping track of the development within the AM field and on emerging technology • Utilizing your skills and hands-on experience in powder bed fusion, powder metallurgy, AM alloys and material characterization on an operational level • Sharing skills and best practice • Closely collaborating with the in-house design team for Design for Additive • Transferring know-how to the in-house AM production facility efficiently and ensure experience response • Being an ambassador for promoting innovative knowledge transfer Your profile We are looking for someone with at least two years’ experience from additive manufacturing processes, such as powder bed fusion (laser and/or ebeam) powder metallurgy, material characterization or 3D design for AM or machining. You have a degree in Material Science or a similar field – e.g. metallurgy, physics or mechanical engineering - and documented experience from participating in projects. As we act in an international setting, you have exceptional skills in English, both written and verbal, while skills in Swedish are advantageous.
