Position Summary:
The Compliance Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager, and the engineer performs product safety evaluations and certification testing for electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with national and international safety standards. This role involves reviewing product designs, performing safety testing, interpreting standards requirements, and preparing certification reports for equipment seeking NRTL certification, IEC CB Scheme Certification, CE Informative Test Reports. The engineer works closely with lab technicians and clients including constant communication to ensure products meet applicable regulatory and safety requirements.
Medical Testing Engineer Responsibilities & Duties Include but are not Limited to the Following:
Product Safety EvaluationEvaluating electrical and electronic equipment for compliance with applicable safety standardsReviewing schematics, critical components, construction detailsIdentifying potential safety hazards, including electric shock, fire, energy hazards, mechanical risksDrafting applicable test programs and test reportsLab TestingDeveloping test plans and test datasheetsPerform and/or witness safety testingAnalyze test results and determine complianceTechnical DocumentationPrepare certification reports and technical documentationDocument product construction details and safety critical componentsMaintain clear and accurate records of all testing and evaluation activitiesClient SupportCommunicate technical findings and compliance requirementsProvide guidance on non-complaicne findingsParticipate in technical meetings and providing support to Sales on client calls Basic Minimum Education Requirements:
Associate's degree in a technical field (electrical engineering, technology), minimumBachelor's in Engineering, preferredBasic Minimum Work Requirements:
Minimum 3-5+ years of experience working in an NRTL Laboratory (UL, CSA, TUV, Intertek, Eurofins) and familiar with basic safety standards. Core Safety includes: 62368-1, 61010-1, 60335-1. Medical Standards Include 60601-1 and -2 particulars.Able to independently draft test plans, write NRTL, CB, CE reports.Ability to communicate with clients and draft coherent, professional emailsAbility to read, interpret the standard and understand the requirementsAbility to perform testing in a test laboratoryAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship. Position is full-time working Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Irvine, CA are encouraged to apply.
