Procurement at Sandvik Machining Solutions (SMS) is about adding value to the full business by developing category strategies and working with sustainable suppliers. Our Global Sourcing Category managers are responsible for procurement categories where we can achieve synergies across the whole organization while meeting and exceeding our business demands - including quality, delivery, cost and sustainability aspects. We are now looking for a Global Category Manager – an engaged negotiator with strong project management skills and who easily recognize trends and movements affecting the business. The location for this position is within Europe, preferably in Sweden, and frequent travel is a natural part of your job. Your mission – Developing strategies to merge business goals and customer needs In this role you manage and develop a sustainable category strategy and manage a global supplier base which supports our strategies. This includes achieving performance targets by leveraging cost and adding value for overall effectiveness in collaboration with the product areas within SMS. You cooperate and network with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, with the aim to secure the best possible setup to meet business needs, and you use your excellent communication skills to build relations based on honesty, respect and trust. The position combines two categories – Vending Solutions and Digital Technology. In Vending Solutions, including associated software and service providers, you are responsible for the global supplier base. Establishing and maintaining good knowledge about the supply market within in the category is essential for developing your strategies. In Digital Technology, a new category within the Procurement organization, you interact with our product area Applied Manufacturing Technologies. Here you select suppliers within software, cloud services, hardware and licenses to secure a strong offer to the market in this future oriented part of Sandvik – where supplier innovation is an important part to grow our business. Your character – An inspiring and business minded leader who enjoys an everchanging setting We are looking for someone with a degree in a relevant field, such as Industrial Economics, or the equivalent experience gained from a working career. You have at least five years’ commercial experience, combined with a background in category driven purchasing or supply. We value a background of working with project and stakeholder management, along with a broad business understanding and previous work within IT. As we are a truly global organization, you have excellent skills in English, verbally and in writing. Knowledge in Swedish is a plus. We are truly interested in your personality and as you have a strategic mindset and a structured approach, you hold an outstanding capability to reach results. You understand the importance of taking ownership for your category and easily coordinate suppliers, tools and agreements in a global matrix organization. Further, your innovative mindset and genuine interest in project and stakeholder management are keys to success in this position.
