Hours of work: 18Working pattern: over 3 daysTerm weeks: 38 + 1 weeks school closure, minimum paid weeks of 44.6 per academic yearCumbria Education Trust is seeking to appoint a dedicated, empathetic and highly organised Engagement & Wellbeing Officer to join the team at Longtown Primary School.
This is a pivotal role within our Learning Provision, working at the heart of a community‑focused school, supporting pupils and families to overcome barriers to engagement, attendance and wellbeing.
About the RoleAs Engagement & Wellbeing Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all pupils—particularly those facing attendance, welfare or SEND‑related challenges—receive the support they need to succeed.
You will:
Lead and coordinate attendance, welfare and wellbeing support plansWork directly with pupils and families to remove barriers to learning and engagement Develop and monitor attendance action plans and Early Help plans, driving improved outcomes Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies to provide joined‑up support Support staff in identifying needs and implementing effective interventionsContribute to the development of attendance, behaviour and inclusion strategies across the school You will also be a visible presence in school, working 1:1 and in groups with pupils, supporting wellbeing and encouraging re‑engagement in learning.

Has experience working with children, families or vulnerable groups, ideally within education, youth work or a related setting Is empathetic, resilient and able to build trust quickly with pupils and familiesHas excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesCan maintain accurate, confidential records and work with sensitivity and professionalism Is committed to improving outcomes for children and understands the importance of attendance, wellbeing and inclusionAbout Longtown Primary SchoolLongtown Primary is a welcoming, inclusive school at the heart of its community.
