- Ames High School is seeking a long-term substitute for a Spanish Teacher.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Implements lesson plans and instructional activities to support student learning.
- Teaches Spanish vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Assesses and monitors student progress and provides appropriate feedback.
- Maintains a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment.
- Manages classroom behavior and encourage student participation.
- Communicates effectively with students, staff, and administration.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Iowa teaching license with 5-12 Spanish endorsement or Native Language endorsement preferred.
- Candidates holding a valid Iowa Substitute Authorization or Substitute License will also be considered.

- Patience and compassion and maintain a caring and helpful relationship with children.
- Initiative and the insight to anticipate problem situations and respond accordingly.
- Ability to create a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students and staff.
- Consistent and punctual attendance.
Compensation: $186.77 per day
