Director of Health Information (HIM) - Full Time
Long-Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Director of Health Information Management (HIM) to oversee medical records, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance within our skilled nursing facility.
This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential resident records, managing EHR processes, supporting survey readiness, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and CMS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and security of resident medical records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and long-term care regulations.
- Manage record retention, release of information, and confidentiality processes.
- Conduct medical record audits and monitor documentation quality.
- Prepare records for state surveys and regulatory reviews.
- Educate staff on documentation and medical record requirements.
- Oversee EHR workflows and departmental operations.
- Support facility leadership and QAPI initiatives.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of healthcare or Health Information Management experience preferred.
- Long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with PointClickCare or similar EHR systems preferred.
- RHIA, RHIT, CHPS, or related credential preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
