About this role

We are looking for a well-qualified, energetic and enthusiastic colleague to join our ambitious and highly skilled Geography department. You will need to have the knowledge, skills and creativity to be an outstanding teacher and the ability to teach your specialism to GCSE and A level.

Main duties and responsibilities

Have the knowledge, skills and creativity to be an outstanding teacher and the ability to teach your specialism to GCSE and A Level.Contribute to enrichment and intervention support within the Geography departmentHave a focus on raising student attainment and a passion for GeographyContribute to the teaching of other Humanities subjects, such as RS, Modern Britain, Business Studies, History or SociologyApplications from NQT’s and experienced staff will be equally valued. Identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessedSetting appropriate and demanding expectationsSetting clear targets, building on prior attainmentAssess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teachingMark and monitor students’ work and set targets for progressAssess and record students’ progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the student is achieving Professional PracticeIdentifying SEN or very able studentsProvide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challengeMake effective use of assessment data and ensure coverage of programmes of studyEnsure effective teaching and best use of available timeMonitor and intervene to ensure sound learning, behaviour and disciplineUse a variety of teaching methods to:1.
