SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
This is an opportunity for students interested in heavy civil construction equipment and supporting project operations to gain firsthand experience working for a heavy civil contractor from our Wixom operations facility and on active projects throughout Michigan. Interns work alongside our Equipment and Logistics team, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field crews in both field and office settings, learning by doing and gaining practical experience in how equipment, trucking, materials, and other resources are coordinated to support construction operations.
This is a paid, full-time summer internship intended to coincide with the student’s academic summer break. Start and end dates may vary based on school schedules and project needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with experienced staff to coordinate equipment, trucking, materials, and other resources between projects
- Assist with equipment scheduling, utilization tracking, and day-to-day logistics
- Help maintain accurate equipment, trucking, and delivery records
- Assist the Equipment and Logistics team with daily operational needs and coordination with project teams
- Visit jobsites and work with field personnel to understand equipment and logistical needs
- Gain hands-on experience with construction technology and business tools, including HCSS, Microsoft Excel, and other systems used to support field operations
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Currently enrolled in a college Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, or related degree program
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to learn
- Comfortable working outside and around active construction operations
- Organized and able to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Primarily based at Toebe’s Wixom facility with periodic visits to active project sites
- Field work includes working outdoors around active heavy civil construction operations and may involve varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, loud working conditions, and heavy equipment
- Requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Regular Monday-Friday schedule with occasional extended hours based on project needs
- Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned project locations
