Warehouse Worker - Afternoon @ Aerotek

Job Title: Afternoon Warehouse Worker Shipping and ReceivingJob DescriptionThis afternoon-shift warehouse role focuses on shipping and receiving activities in a busy plumbing distribution environment. You will manually pick orders using an RF scan gun, build and wrap pallets, and handle trailer loading and unloading while working both inside the warehouse and outdoors in the yard. The position offers long-term, steady work with strong potential to transition from contract to full-time employment for those who are motivated, reliable, and eager to grow in a warehouse career.

Responsibilities

• Work in the shipping and receiving department to support daily warehouse operations.
• Manually pick customer orders using an RF scan gun with speed and accuracy.
• Build secure pallets and wrap products to prepare orders for shipment.
• Unload incoming trailers (approximately 70% of the time) and verify products and quantities.
• Load outgoing trailers (approximately 30% of the time) according to shipping requirements.
• Work outdoors in the yard to pick orders and stage materials as needed, which may be required on a daily basis.
• Replenish warehouse bins and storage locations to maintain adequate stock levels.
• Perform general labor tasks such as moving, organizing, and staging products throughout the warehouse.
• Use reach forklifts and power pallet jacks if you have the appropriate experience and certification.
• Handle a variety of plumbing-related products, from small fixtures to large bathtubs, with care and attention to safety.
• Lift and move items up to 50 lbs on a regular basis while following safe lifting practices.
• Assist with inventory counts and occasional overtime shifts when inventory activities are scheduled.
• Follow all warehouse safety procedures, housekeeping standards, and operational guidelines.
• Collaborate with a team of warehouse colleagues, maintaining a positive attitude and supporting others as needed.
• Proactively identify tasks and keep busy by finding productive work around the warehouse when core tasks are completed.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse environment.
• At least 1 year of order picking experience, preferably using RF scan guns or similar technology.
• A minimum of 1 year of general warehousing experience with overall warehouse knowledge.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and safely throughout the shift.
• Comfort working outdoors in the yard for portions of the day, in varying weather conditions.
• Experience with order picking, shipping, general labor, material handling, and inventory support.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when picking orders and verifying shipments.
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive, motivated, and long-term mindset toward warehouse work.
• Professional presentation in interviews and the ability to clearly explain previous warehouse experience with examples.
• Team-oriented attitude with strong work ethic, reliability, and self-motivation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Raymond Reach forklift experience.
• Power pallet jack experience.
• Valid forklift certification.
• Experience working in a similar plumbing or industrial warehouse environment.
• Comfort handling a range of products from small components to large, bulky items.
• Openness to flexible start times within a range of available shifts.
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-based warehouse setting.

Work EnvironmentMonday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with training provided on day shift from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Some overtime may be required for inventory activities, although this is not frequent. Start times may change, and ideal candidates are flexible to work different shifts such as 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., or 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The work includes both indoor warehouse tasks and outdoor yard work, so you should be comfortable working outside when needed. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.23 - $20.48/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
