Are you the right person for our Inpatient Unit team?
We are looking for someone to join our Inpatient Unit to deliver complex symptom management and end of life care to our patients.
You will also offer emotional and psychological support to our patients and also their loved ones.
Working as part of our multi-disciplinary team, you would be responsible for planning and managing care for patients within our unit.
We don't pretend this is an easy job, but it is incredibly rewarding.
You will have support from within your team to help deal with the difficult times. On the positive side you will finish every shift knowing that you have made a huge difference to every patient that you have cared for.

To be successful in this role you will need to be a registered nurse with a passion for palliative care with good communication skills and a desire to deliver personalised care to each of our patients.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and Co-ordinate the care for patients on our Inpatient Unit, overseeing the work of the team on shift to include Healthcare Assistants, Senior Healthcare Assistants and Volunteers with guidance and support from the Deputy, Manager or Senior Nurse on Call.Play an active role in Multi-disciplinary Team Meetings to agree care for patients.Organise admissions and discharges, liaising with doctors, the administration teams and other agencies.Provide hands on nursing care to patients, including assessing and managing symptoms, writing care plans, adjust medications, administering controlled drugs.Provide emotional support to families.Verify deaths and provide care after death with the support of the Healthcare Assistants and Senior Healthcare Assistants.Liaise with Senior Nurse on call as required.Promote a culture of continuous learning and development and wellbeing. Identify your own learning and development needs and ensure your mandatory and essential training is up to date. Take part in clinical supervision, play an active part in team meetings. Deliver learning and skills development to colleagues. Help to create an environment that is continually critically questioning practice and promoting learning.Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others. Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements, including Covid-19 secure processes and procedures.

Infection Prevention
All Rowcroft Hospice employees are required to adhere to the Infection Prevention and Control Policies and make every effort to maintain high standards of infection control at all times to reduce the burden of Healthcare Associated Infections including MRSA.
You agree to:
Decontaminate your hands prior to and after direct patient care or contact with the patient's surroundings; Take part in mandatory infection control training provided; Responsibly manage your own infections that may be transmittable to patients, including to contact Occupational Health for guidance.
Place of Work
This role has been identified as an on-site worker (works at a Rowcroft site for the majority of their working time).
This will be fully discussed and agreed with the postholder to meet individual and business needs.

A commitment to continually learn and develop. Flexible across day and night shift rotation dependent on service need.
Desirable
Willing and able to volunteer for at least one Rowcroft event each year. An understanding of the purpose, values and strategy of Rowcroft Hospice.
