We are seeking enthusiastic colleagues to join our Consultant team in the provision of anaesthetic and critical care.
The hospital moved to state-of-the-art accommodation in early 2019 on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and later that year received an Outstanding rating from the CQC. We are seeking new colleagues with the clinical skills, drive and commitment to contribute to our leading-edge status.
You will possess a certificate of completion of training (CCT) or a certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or equivalent in the specialty of Anaesthesia. You will have significant experience of adult cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care, including heart and lung transplantation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Training in echocardiography is essential.

Main duties of the job
As a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care, you will contribute to the provision of anaesthetic and critical care services at Royal Papworth Hospital. These include anaesthetic services for cardiothoracic surgery, transplant surgery, interventional cardiology, critical care and the extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) service.
You will contribute to the training of medical students, all grades of specialist trainees and other health professionals, as well as participating in clinical audit, quality improvement and academic activities.
As a member of the Consultant team, you will work alongside other team members to support early evening elective operating sessions and Saturday elective operating sessions. In addition, you will share the department's commitment to the theatre, critical care and ECMO out-of-hours cover on a rotational basis.
Successful applicants will be employed full-time at Royal Papworth Hospital.
Key tasks
*Shared responsibility with other colleagues for critical care service provision and cardiothoracic anaesthesia.
*Participation in the critical care, cardiothoracic anaesthesia and ECMO on-call duties, up to 1:6, with prospective cover.
*Teaching, training and clinical supervision of trainees and other health professionals.
*Participation in the research, audit and quality improvement activities of the hospital.
*Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients and compliance with clinical governance initiatives.

*Registration with licence to practice on the GMC *FRCA or equivalent qualification in anaesthesia *CCT or equivalent in anaesthesia *Registered or Expected entry on the Specialist Register

*FFICM or equivalent qualification in intensive care medicine (ICM) *Qualification in another specialty (e.g. MRCP) *Higher Degree (e.g. MSc, MD, PhD)
