SENIOR MECHANICAL PRODUCT ENGINEER | MOBILE PLATFORMS

The Senior Mechanical Product Engineer owns the controlled mechanical design of the company’s mobile surveillance platforms and custom Mobile Surveillance Unit (MSU) configurations. The role develops and maintains accurate SolidWorks assemblies, production drawings and bills of materials while translating product and customer requirements into manufacturable, serviceable and repeatable designs. Working with Product, Engineering, Operations and manufacturing partners, this position provides the mechanical design discipline needed to move prototypes and custom configurations into controlled production.

Create, organize and maintain master SolidWorks assemblies, part models, fabrication drawings and production documentation for mobile surveillance platforms. Develop and maintain controlled bills of materials, approved component substitutions and accurate links between drawings, assemblies and production requirements. Design custom MSU mechanical configurations that satisfy documented customer, product, equipment, serviceability and deployment requirements. Own mechanical engineering changes, drawing revisions and release records so Production and Operations work from current, approved information.

Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles to reduce build variation, simplify fabrication, improve serviceability and control cost. Support prototype fabrication, assembly, fit checks and design validation, documenting findings and incorporating approved changes into released designs. Evaluate structural loading, equipment mounting, enclosure protection, ventilation, environmental exposure, transportation and deployed-use requirements. Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces, including equipment packaging, mounting, cable routing, power-system components, cameras, communications equipment and service access. Work with internal and external manufacturing teams to resolve drawing, fabrication and assembly questions while protecting design intent and configuration control. This role is primarily office-based mechanical design work with regular interaction with prototype, fabrication and production activities. Travel of up to 10 percent may be required for supplier visits, manufacturing support, field validation or project work. Work in shop or field environments may require appropriate personal protective equipment and compliance with site safety requirements.

• Authorized to work in the United States
• At least three years of relevant mechanical design, product engineering or manufacturing-engineering experience.
• A degree in mechanical engineering or a diploma in mechanical engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology or a related discipline is required.
• Demonstrated experience producing manufacturing-ready 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.
• Experience taking designs through prototype, validation, release and production-change cycles is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for parametric part modelling, assemblies, configurations and detailed production drawings.
• Demonstrated experience designing sheet-metal components, welded fabrications, frames, brackets, equipment mounts and related manufactured assemblies.
• Experience with trailers, mobile equipment, specialty vehicles or comparable field-deployed electromechanical products.
• Practical knowledge of outdoor enclosures, corrosion protection, sealing, ventilation, environmental exposure and equipment serviceability.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, tolerances, material selection and supplier capabilities.
• Ability to interpret product requirements, equipment specifications, site constraints and fabrication feedback and convert them into controlled mechanical designs.
