Job summary Senior Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellow in the department of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
We are inviting applications to fill our Senior Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellow vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
The post is full time and based primarily at the Leeds General Infirmary and is offering two 12-month Fellowships. 1 post to start February 2027 and 1 post to start February 2028.
The post is an excellent opportunity for candidates to pursue a career as a consultant in paediatric orthopaedics.
Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice by the intended start date.

Main duties of the job The paediatric orthopaedic department is located in Leeds Childrens Hospital which is on site within Leeds General Infirmary. As well as offering a full range of paediatric services including PICU and childrens cardiac surgery. The post allows access to all the acute services within the countrys second busiest Level 1 Major Trauma Centre (over 1000 MTC admissions per year, including over 100 paediatric MTC admissions). There are eight paediatric theatres in the Childrens Hospital. The department is extremely busy seeing over 3000 referrals a year from the Yorkshire region as well as the paediatric trauma.
At present there are currently seven paediatric orthopaedic consultants. There are daily paediatric only trauma clinics (Monday to Friday) as well as other elective clinics, including subspecialty clinics such as paediatric limb reconstruction, adolescent hip, neuromuscular and baby clinic for hip and foot deformities. The regional referral base is from the whole of the Yorkshire Region, a population of approximately 3.5 million. Leeds paediatric orthopaedic consultants also provide services in 5 of the regions district general hospitals, including Calderdale/ Huddersfield, Harrogate, Bradford, Airedale and Mid Yorkshire Hospital Trust.
