ASU EdPlus is a dynamic unit of Arizona State University focused on the design and scalable delivery of digital teaching and learning models to increase student success and reduce barriers to achievement in higher education. We are seeking a Project Manager Senior to support EDU.FYI, a strategic partnership between ASU and FYI focused on reimagining how people learn, create, and solve problems with artificial intelligence.

FYI is an AI-powered platform and technology company founded by will.i.am, built around the belief that AI should amplify human agency, creativity, and potential. Through EDU.FYI, ASU and FYI are bringing together ASU’s leadership in education and innovation with FYI’s technology to explore a new model for AI-powered learning that moves beyond simply using AI tools to actively build, create, and solve meaningful problems alongside AI.

The highly dynamic, evolving partnership is building and testing new AI-enabled learning experiences, products, and programs designed to help learners develop the skills, mindset, and agency to thrive in an increasingly AI-powered world.

You will play a critical role in turning that ambition into coordinated execution. Every day you will make a difference in the lives of others by bringing structure to ambiguity, translating partnership and leadership priorities into actionable plans, and driving progress across multiple interconnected workstreams spanning technology, academic programming, research, marketing, enrollment, partnerships, and new initiatives. Success in this role requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to build alignment and navigate complex stakeholder environments as priorities and organizational needs evolve.

Essential Duties

Project Planning and Execution — 35%

  • Develop, maintain, and actively manage the integrated EDU.FYI project plan across partnership workstreams, translating priorities and decisions into clear deliverables, owners, milestones, timelines, and next steps.
  • Drive day-to-day execution against established plans and milestones; maintain project schedules and tools, monitor progress, follow up with owners, and adjust plans as priorities and requirements evolve.

Cross-Functional Coordination and Follow-Through — 30%

  • Serve as a primary project management partner across ASU and FYI teams, building alignment and coordinating activities and dependencies across partnership workstreams, senior stakeholders, and functional and organizational boundaries.
  • Facilitate recurring project working sessions and drive follow-through on decisions and commitments, ensuring clear ownership and proactively surfacing work that is delayed, blocked, or at risk.

Risk, Issue, and Dependency Management — 15%

  • Proactively identify and track project risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery constraints, working with responsible stakeholders to develop and monitor mitigation plans.
  • Exercise sound judgment in resolving project issues and stakeholder conflicts at the appropriate level, recognizing when leadership alignment or intervention is required and escalating significant risks, unresolved dependencies, priority conflicts, and decisions to the Director of Enterprise Delivery with clear context and recommended next steps.

Reporting and Partnership Visibility — 15%

  • Maintain accurate, current visibility into EDU.FYI initiatives and milestones, consolidating workstream updates into concise, decision-ready project status reporting for the Director of Enterprise Delivery and partnership leadership.
  • Maintain documentation of key decisions, commitments, risks, dependencies, and changes to project scope or timelines, and support executive updates by gathering, validating, and synthesizing complex or sensitive project information for senior stakeholders.

Project Management Infrastructure and Continuous Improvement — 5%

  • Establish and maintain consistent project management practices, tools, templates, and core governance artifacts, including the integrated roadmap, RACI, project plans, and decision and risk logs.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve operating cadence, workflows, communication, accountability, and scalable project management infrastructure as the partnership evolves.
  • Assume or coordinate additional duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, technology, higher education administration, or a related field.
  • Experience independently leading complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple teams, senior stakeholders, external partners, and concurrent priorities.
  • Experience translating broad priorities and objectives into actionable project plans, milestones, owners, and timelines.
  • Experience building alignment and driving execution and accountability across stakeholders with differing perspectives, priorities, and levels of authority, including without direct supervisory authority.
  • Experience managing project dependencies, risks, issues, and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in highly ambiguous environments, bringing structure, clarity, and forward momentum to work where priorities, requirements, or processes are not yet fully defined.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional working sessions and driving clear follow-through from meetings and decisions.
  • Experience communicating with and supporting senior leadership, including synthesizing complex or sensitive information, anticipating stakeholder needs, and tailoring communications to enable timely decisions and alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with sound judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and awareness of organizational context and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated judgment in determining when to independently resolve issues, when to build stakeholder alignment, and when to elevate decisions, risks, or competing priorities to leadership.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, or comparable platforms; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or comparable project management training preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education, technology, digital products, strategic partnerships, or similarly complex environments.
  • Evidence of strong communication skills, executive-level judgment and discretion, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize effectively in a complex, fast-moving environment.

NOTE: Please answer the following questions in your cover letter:

  • Describe a complex, cross-functional project or initiative you independently managed involving multiple teams, stakeholders, or concurrent workstreams. How did you translate priorities into an actionable project plan, establish ownership and timelines, and drive accountability through execution?
  • Describe a time you managed a project in a fast-moving environment where priorities, requirements, or timelines were evolving, and stakeholders had differing needs or perspectives. How did you build alignment; identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies; and determine what to resolve independently versus what required leadership engagement?
