Job summary
On 11 March 2019, three well established GP practices formally merged to create Ashford Medical Partnership. Willesborough Health Centre, Singleton Health Centre, and St Stephens Health Centre collectively serve a patient population of approximately 38,000 people across the Ashford locality.
All three practice sites are strategically located within the heart of Ashford, situated approximately 2.5 miles apart, enabling collaborative working and accessible service delivery across the Partnership. The sites benefit from excellent transport links, with convenient access to Junctions 9 and 10 of the M20, and are located just a short distance from Ashford International railway station.
The current workforce structure comprises 6 GP Partners, supported by 16 Salaried GPs and locum GPs an Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), Registered General Nurses (RGNs), Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), a dedicated Primary Care Network (PCN) team, Medicines Management Team (MMT) and Prescribing Clerks. The wider clinical workforce is further supported by a General Manager and a large administrative team, all of whom collectively contribute to the effective delivery of high quality patient care and operational services across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse, and in accordance with established practice policies, procedures, and clinical protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will support the wider clinical team in the safe and effective delivery of high-quality patient care and prescribed clinical programmes.

Job summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the lead practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Job responsibilities:
New patient health checks
ECG recording
Phlebotomy
Spirometry
Chaperoning duties
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Qualifications Essential

Experience Essential
Experience of working with the general public. Experience of working as an Health Care Assistant. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure. Ability to deal with challenging situations. Has an understanding of local and national issues. To be able to demonstrate on-going personal and practice development. Demonstrates an understanding of Clinical Governance requirements. Ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change. Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, face to face and active listening skills. Computer skills; Microsoft word and e-mail. Smart, polite and confident. Planning and organising. Performing under pressure. Adaptability. A degree of flexibility within working hours. Team working. Self-motivated.
