Job Description

Leads enterprise strategy, portfolio management, and strategic partnerships for artificial intelligence. The role establishes enterprise opportunity intake, facilitates portfolio decisions with the AI Transformation Governance Committee, develops AI capability and engagement roadmaps with priority business domains, manages strategic and operational budget flows, and creates defensible benefits-realization practices. The Executive Director coordinates third-party partners and Forward-Deployed Engineering demand, engages Engineering when technical execution is needed, personally builds decision artifacts and rapid governed prototypes, and leads a high-leverage team that demonstrates measurable value and multiplies AI capability across the enterprise.

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise AI strategy, operating model, investment principles, capability priorities, and multi-year portfolio roadmap.
  • Operate a consistent front door for AI opportunities and facilitate prioritization, sequencing, resource tradeoffs, and decision records with the AI Transformation Governance Committee.
  • Build trusted engagement with priority business and clinical domains and maintain AI capability and engagement roadmaps that identify opportunities, dependencies, ownership, and reusable enterprise needs.
  • Manage strategic and operational AI budget flows with Finance and accountable leaders and establish business-case, baseline, benefit-owner, evidence, and corrective-action practices.
  • Coordinate the third-party AI partner ecosystem and Forward-Deployed Engineering demand, including market scanning, optioning, engagement models, performance measures, escalation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Create and visibly demonstrate decision frames, portfolio analyses, value models, reusable tools, and rapid governed prototypes that reduce uncertainty, accelerate decisions, and connect investment choices to measurable realized value.
  • Orchestrate business, control, platform, data, adoption, and delivery participants and provide Engineering with clear outcomes, constraints, evidence, dependencies, and accountable sponsors; Engineering retains production technical execution.
  • Build and lead a force-multiplier, AI-first team that creates reusable operating mechanisms, actively engages executive and domain leaders, models a build-and-show culture, and turns the work of a small team into enterprise-scale impact; lead function operations, talent, performance, budgets, capacity, and resourcing in accordance with enterprise policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
