About this role

Job summary

The purpose of this post is to develop learning opportunities by providing teaching and support for students on the Peninsula Medical School BMBS and PA Programme. The post will predominantly provide teaching and support to year 4 and 5 BMBS medical students, Year 2 PA Students. The post holder will work with the Pathway lead for General Internal Medicine Dr Roland Boey and the Clinical Liaison Team in the Medical School. It is anticipated the post holder will undertake teaching duties Monday to Wednesday and be available for clinical duties as service registrar for Thursdays and Fridays.

Job description Job responsibilities

Act as a key clinical liaison for medical students during their clinical pathway placements Coordinate and organise teaching for Pathway Weeks Liaise with the Clinical Teacher Lead and clinical teams to improve delivery of teaching Demonstrating and teaching practical and clinical skills within both the clinical environment and simulated teaching scenarios Lead clinical teaching within the clinical pathway weeks and develop local departmental teaching opportunities for students Liaison with nurses, junior doctors, other health care providers, patients, relatives as well as senior medical staff within departments to support the successful facilitation of the BMBS programme within allocated departments Undertake formal teaching both face to face and using remote platforms, when required, within the academic day programme. This could include the delivery of tutorials, lectures, Clinical Skills, and simulation sessions Attending ward rounds and multi-disciplinary rounds as required to support the delivery of the medical education undergraduate teaching programme Supporting quality assurance arrangements for clinical teaching within departments, as directed by the Pathway Lead/Hospital Sub Dean Attending, when required, monthly Clinical Teacher Leads meeting and other Medical School Working Groups On Thursday and Fridays, the post holder will be expected to act as Service Registrar in one of the General Internal Medicine wards.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience Essential

oGMC registration with a current licence to practise and up to date revalidation. oCertificate of completion of foundation training +/- further training. oMinimum 2 full years NHS experience in the UK as a doctor, a year of which must be in the last 2 years oA sound knowledge of basic clinical sciences and the ability to apply this knowledge to clinical practice. oExperience of teaching in any setting. oGood IT skills.

Desirable

oKnowledge of the Peninsula Medical School and experience of teaching BMBS students oExperience working in geriatric medicine.

oMBBS or equivalent.
