Job summary

Band 5 Physiotherapists -Two positions:

1x Permanent 1x Fixed-term contract (1-year only) Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust provide a full range of acute services at Kingston Hospital, and short-stay rehabilitation at Teddington Memorial Hospital. We also provide community care in the London borough of Richmond, and we work in partnership withYour Healthcarewho provide community care in Kingston.We have a superb reputation for innovation in the field of healthcare and have been awarded an outstanding rating from CQC for caring and leadership.

We are looking for enthusiastic Chartered Physiotherapists to join our dynamic team . The post holder will join the Band 5 rotations, between inpatients, outpatients and community with opportunities to work across 7-days during some rotations.

We are a very friendly, supportive team who encourage newly qualified physios or band 5 applicants who are looking to further expand their knowledge and skills. We actively encourage in-service training and recognise the value of supervision and appraisal. This role includes weekend respiratory and on-call duties.

Main duties of the job

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/OUTCOMES:

Clinical

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients such as those with presentations of medical and respiratory pathologies, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, paediatric patients, amputees, head injuries and stroke patients. Formulate and deliver a Physiotherapy treatment programme based on sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options. Using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills Assess patient understanding of treatment, gain valid consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment Evaluate patient progress, re-asses and alter treatment programmes as appropriate Represent Physiotherapy service and/or individual patients at the multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary service and integrate Physiotherapy treatment in to the treatment programme. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement of discharge planning.

Person Specification

Education Essential

Diploma/BSc Degree in Physiotherapy State registration with Health Professional Council

Desirable

Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) or special interest group

Experience Essential

Experience of working in acute and/or community Physiotherapy department in the UK NHS Completed placements at undergraduate level Working Knowledge of a broad range of conditions requiring Physiotherapy Experience working at Kingston Hospital

Desirable

Experience of treating acute respiratory patients

Skills Essential

Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate Ability to work as team member Ability communicate, educate, motivate and negotiate effectively with staff,patients and carers

Knowledge Essential

To have a basic concept of acute discharge planning Knowledge of the pressures on the current NHS and discharge

Desirable

Knowledge of NHS Long Term plan aims incl. prevention, digital and community care
