Are you a passionate and creative Business Studies teacher who can inspire young people to develop the skills, confidence and ambition to succeed in the world beyond school?

Melbury College is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed Teacher of Business Studies to join our dedicated team, delivering BTEC Business qualifications across three of our specialist settings.

We welcome applications from qualified teachers and would also consider suitably experienced unqualified teachers who can demonstrate strong subject knowledge, relevant industry or teaching experience and the ability to inspire and engage young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop a vocational Business Studies curriculum across Melbury College, creating meaningful learning experiences that connect classroom knowledge with real-world business, enterprise and employment opportunities.

At Melbury College, our ethos is

Our five values — Respect, Courage, Determination, Kindness and Purpose — underpin everything we do.

About the role

As our Teacher of Business Studies, you will play an important part in developing and delivering an ambitious, accessible and engaging BTEC Business curriculum that enables pupils to achieve recognised qualifications and prepare for their next steps.

Working across our specialist settings, you will:

  • 1. Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Business Studies lessons that bring enterprise, entrepreneurship and the world of work to life.
  • 2. Deliver and assess BTEC Business qualifications, ensuring pupils are supported to achieve their full potential.
  • 3. Develop creative and practical learning opportunities that connect business theory with real-world experiences.
  • 4. Adapt teaching to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with SEND, social, emotional and mental health needs, medical needs and disrupted educational experiences.
  • 5. Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement, confidence, resilience and achievement.
  • 6. Support pupils to develop essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, financial awareness and independence.
  • 7. Contribute to BTEC assessment, standardisation and quality assurance processes.
  • 8. Work collaboratively with colleagues across Melbury to ensure a consistent, inclusive and ambitious approach to vocational education.
  • 9. Help pupils recognise their strengths, raise their aspirations and prepare for successful transitions into further education, training and employment.

We are equally interested in candidates who bring relevant business or industry experience, creativity, enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to making a difference to young people's lives.

Why join Melbury College?
