Applications are invited to apply for the post of Senior Ophthalmic Specialist grade in Medical Retinal and Urgent care service within Moorfields Eye Hospital
This substantive Senior Ophthalmic Specialist position will be based full time at the Moorfields satellite unit within Croydon University Hospital (CUH). The post has 8 direct patient care sessions and will form part of the well-established multidisciplinary team.
We are seeking candidates with previous unsupervised retinal laser experience, intravitreal injections and clinical experience. Candidates should have completed their higher surgical training in the UK or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice
To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.
To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.

All doctors are responsible to maintain a portfolio of their career over the last 5 years in order to satisfy GMC Revalidation criteria. If successful, you will be required to bring along your supporting information portfolio including recent appraisals documents when joining the Trust.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. MRCOphth or equivalent. Full GMC Registration (with a Licence to Practice) or be eligible for GMC Registration.
Knowledge & Experience Essential
Wide experience in the Medical Retina subspeciality Experience in urgent eye care and emergency ophthalmology management Experience of leading management decisions in medical retina injection clinics 4 Years full-time postgraduate training, at least two of which must be in the Ophthalmology Specialty Training Programme or have equivalent experience & competencies (or its equivalent gained on a part-time/flexible basis)
Desirable
Further qualifications in medical retina or urgent/ emergency ophthalmology
