Requirements

• UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance is required; sponsorship is not available.
• Significant experience in secure AWS design.
• Expert knowledge of cloud security concepts, technologies, and best practices across IaaS and serverless architectures, including native AWS/Azure controls and commercial or open-source products.
• Experience with secure design concepts, design documentation, and threat modelling.
• Strong understanding of securing microservice-based architectures and APIs.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks such as CIS and NIST, and how to apply their technical controls in complex AWS hosting environments.
• Experience working directly with engineering teams and architects to review system and data architectures and develop patterns based on industry best practice.
• Ability to articulate the impact of vulnerabilities and the controls and mitigations required for existing and future designs.
• Solid understanding of security concepts and ability to apply them at a technical level to guide engineering teams.
• Demonstrable experience as a subject matter expert in secure cloud architecture design; experience in UK Government and Defence sectors is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist secure design advice to our UK Government clients for public cloud workloads on AWS.
• Identify and deliver appropriate controls based on industry standards, such as NCSC Cloud Security Principles, and client security standards and patterns, to develop cloud security solutions based on business risk and cloud-native threats.
• Document Secure by Design artefacts, including threat models.
• Attend client governance forums and provide expert critique and guidance on proposed designs and associated security controls.
• Provide direction, analysis, and design facilitation to develop, maintain, and govern customer security architecture.
• Ensure architecture principles, designs, technologies, methods, and practices are documented and properly executed.

We are an independent cyber security consultancy providing security consultancy and managed security services to public- and private-sector clients. This is a full-time technical Cyber Security Consultant role, based at our Manchester headquarters with hybrid working and two days a week in our Manchester office. We offer a salary of £45,000–£60,000 per year, depending on skills and experience, and a bonus of up to 10%.
